Pizza Dough
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups water lukewarm
- 2 1/4 tsp yeast 1 packet
- 1 tsp sugar
- 3 3/4 cups bread flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Proof yeast: Stir lukewarm water (about 100-110°F / 38-43°C — not hotter), yeast, and sugar. Rest 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix: Add bread flour, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and olive oil. Stir to a shaggy dough.
- Knead: Knead by hand 8-10 minutes (or mixer ~7-8 minutes) until smooth and elastic; dough should spring back slowly when poked.
- Rise: Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and rise in a warm spot 60-90 minutes until doubled.
- Shape: Gently deflate; divide if making multiple pizzas. Rest 10-15 minutes if dough snaps back, then stretch into rounds.
- Bake: Preheat oven as hot as practical (often 475-500°F / 245-260°C) with stone/steel if using. Top dough; bake until crust is golden and set, about 8-15 minutes depending on thickness and toppings.
